So I would like to tell you a little about how our Christmas went.
Christmas eve I had a sick little boy with a fever, but we went to my moms for dinner and met my Aunt, Uncle and Cousin there. It went well, we opened presents, and had a delicious dinner that my mom made. I love her cooking!!! We spent a few hours there and went home. Tucked the kids in and cleaned the house up and got things ready for Santa.
Christmas morning our sick little boy gets up at 3:30AM. Not because he is excited that it is Chrstmas, because he's still not totally understanding that yet, but because he is sick. Porr guy climbs in our bed and watches TV until 5:00AM then he has had enough and wants us to get up. So I figured why not? We have a lot of family coming over around lunch and if I don't get him for a nap before they come the whole day will go down the drain because he won't nap while they are here and they whole day will go down the drain.
So we get up and open presents. He is not as excited as I though he would be, but he was sick. After presents (I got spoiled) I made a big breakfast. I medicated the boy and put him for a nap. He didn't nap long enough though- but I will get to that later. So after breakfast, I go on major clean up mode. All the toys that he just got come out of the packages, and all the wrapping and packages go in the garage. I have everything put away and ready with about an hour to spare before people show up.
Remember how we were woken up at 3:30AM? And I foolishly got up at 5:00AM so the sick little guy would have a nap?? Well I never thought about me!!!! I was crashing!! HARD! I had a head ache, I was grumpy, I just needed sleep! So with no time for that I popped a Advil and a caffeine pill and trudged on. The party went really well, we had 16 Adults and 5 kids. The boy was taken care of by the grandparents most of the day and baby girl was passed around lie a hot potato, but she didn't seem to mind. I was pulled in all directions and asked a million questions. I am not complaining at all, it was a really good time.
Now at my family functions people are usually gone in 4-5 hours. But I know from experience that hubbys family stays well into the night. So thankfully I was prepared. I knew people wouldn't leave until 10 and because I was prepared, I was ok with that.
Now getting back to my sick little boy. He crashed hard. Poor guy. He had a fever off and on all day that we were trying to control with Tylenol. He looked terrible. When we were doing the present exchange he was falling asleep in my arms, but didn't want to go to bed. So knowing that his favourite movie is Madagascar I asked him if he wanted to watch it in mommy's bed. Bingo! So I put him in the middle of our bed with a sippy cup of water, and his blankie and put the movie on and turned the volume up so he couldn't hear the commotion down stairs. Genius!
At the end of the night everyone helped me clean up the kitchen and get all the food put away. It was a great time and I wouldn't have it any other way!
Now I have a few days to plan for New Years. We are having a party at our house so we need to do a little decorating and food and drink prep. Also New Years Day is my Birthday!!!
Update: Little Man was taken to the doctors on Friday and has a possible throat infection. After a few doses of antibiotics he is feeling a lot better. Baby girl had a wicked cough yesterday but seems better today- just a runny nose. If she gets worse we will be going to the doctor again.
